More than transmitting content, teachers build bridges for critical thinking, promote dialogue and cultivate diversity of ideas inside and outside the classroom. In view of the challenges facing education today, this day is more than a tribute: it is a moment to reaffirm the commitment to academic freedom, respect for intellectual diversity and the uncompromising defense of education as a space for critical thinking, and not for imposition. May recognition of teaching work not be limited to the commemorative date, but translate into concrete appreciation, freedom to teach and decent working conditions.
