With the Democratic Memory Law in force, now the adult grandchildren of Spaniards can request Spanish nationality of origin, living in Brazil. Furthermore, this law also allows children of legal age to apply for Spanish nationality. There is no longer a requirement for the applicant to live in Spain for a year to then be able to begin the nationality process. Also, anyone who has already obtained Spanish nationality by choice may request to exchange it for nationality by origin. Spanish nationality of origin allows it to be passed on to children.
