Overview

For certain nationalities, a visa for this is not required. Individuals from these countries only need to have a certificate of exemption stamped in their passports. For other nationalities, a "Temporary-Item II Visa" is necessary. In both cases, the project must first be approved and include a Brazilian co-producer, who will submit the application to the Brazilian National Cinema Agency for approval. Once the permission is granted, the authorization is sent to the Brazilian Consulate in the applicant's country of residency, either by ANCINE or the co-producer. After the consulate receives the approval and the applicant presents their passport, the visa or exemption certificate is issued accordingly, after the consulate’s final decision. Additionally, some cities or states may impose additional fees for using public spaces for filming, which are managed by local authorities. Legal guidance can help clarify the applicable rules, the risks involved, and the next step that best fits your situation.
