Overview
If a person received a Portuguese residence visa without making an appointment with AIMA (Agency for Migration and Asylum Integration) for residence procedures, they must visit an AIMA unit after arriving in Portugal. If it is not possible to carry out the visit immediately, it is recommended to contact AIMA by phone or email for guidance. If AIMA does not release an appointment date during the period of stay, a decree is normally published that extends the length of stay until the date on which the appointment is made, ensuring that the visa holder complies with residency requirements.
