Overview

The General Registry (RG) will be replaced by the new National Identity Card (CIN), a unified document that will use the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) number as a unique identifier. This change aims to standardize identification documents throughout Brazil, eliminating problems with duplicate numbers of the same person in different states of the federation. Brazilians and Portuguese who have obtained equal rights to reside in Brazil can now request the issuance of their CIN. The CIN also has a QR Code for digital authentication and is issued in both physical and digital formats, facilitating use and increasing the security of citizens' data.
