The answer depends. For the sentence to be served in Brazil, there must be a Prisoner Transfer Agreement between Brazil and the country where the person is imprisoned. Furthermore, this transfer can only be requested after the sentence in the foreign country has become final. The Department of Asset Recovery and International Legal Cooperation (DRCI), linked to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), is the body responsible for managing administrative processes related to the transfer of detained people. He is also responsible for analyzing the admissibility of the transfer request.
